Unknown Zone_MOBILE

Unknown Zone_MOBILE was the third solo exhibition by Eunsu Kang. It was sponsored by KTF and was held on wireless web service for cellular phones in 2003. Anonymous audiences were able to watch videos on their cell-phones anywhere anytime. Free cellular phones were supported for people who do not have cellular phones at the bar in SsamzieSpace, an alternative art space in Seoul, for 2 weeks.

This was an attempt at exploration of an alternative exhibition for audiences who do not have a chance to appreciate artwork in conventional gallery spaces. I believe, as a media artist, that how one communicates with an audience is as important as the content of an artwork. In my past project, 'Video works are now on sale' (1999-), audiences was able to buy a video tape and watch video works at home instead of at a gallery. I have participated in several alternative exhibitions such as 'Video On Demand' (2003), 'Media + Art (Broadcasting)' (2003), 'Video Culture Lounge: IDL TV project' (2003), 'Crosstalk-art broadcasting' (2002), and 'Ilsim web art project' (2002) etc. in the same context.
