Annabel Castro is a Mexican artist currently studding a PhD in DXARTS. She completed a BA in Graphic Design at the National Autonomous University of Mexico and a MSc in Art and Technology at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden. As arts academic advisor of the Latin-American Institute of Educational Communication she developed and ran Mexico's first project in programming applied to visual arts for secondary school students. She also taught Physical Computing at the Architecture Department of the Centro University and digital media at the Academic Computing Center of the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
Her artwork has been shown among other venues at the Transmediale in Berlin, the Contemporary Culture Center of Barcelona, the National
Museum Art Center Queen Sofia in Madrid, the Contemporary Art Museum of Santiago in Chile, the Contemporary Art and Design Museum of Costa Rica and at the International Art Biennial SIART where she received the “La Paz” award. She recently received the PAEE grant of the National Fund for Arts and Culture of Mexico 2010-11.
