Lab set-up
1) login with your UW net-id. Your password is also your UW net-id.
2) IMMEDIATELY open SystemPreferences/Accounts. Choose your account, and change your password. You don't want to get Hasselhoff'd.
3) Go to Login Items. You will want to add "/Applications/JackExtras/Autostart/Autostart JackOSX"
4) I suggest adding the following items to your Dock
-/Applications/Utilities/X11.app
-/Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app
-/Applications/Ardour.app (or, Ardour2.app)
-/Applications/Audacity.app
-/Applications/Spark LE2.9/SparkLE.app
5) Configure JackOSX to work with your account. Open /Applications/JackOSX.app
A preference pane should open. Select coreaudio for the driver. The rest of
the defaults should be fine. Save. Press the start button to make sure
Jack starts up.
6) Open X11.app, and enter
snd &
This should open the snd sound editor. If it doesn't, let me know so I
can fix this.
7) When finished... LOG OUT!!! Always log out. Once again, this will help you avoid the Hasselhoff.
Your home directory should now be in a good starting state.
