At the Back of the North Wind is an experimental feature film for children of all ages being produced by students from the
University of Washington as part of the first-ever session of DXARTS 456,
a 15-credit full-term summer course focusing on the creation of large-scale art projects.
At the Back of the North Wind is the story of a sickly boy named Diamond and his friendship
with the magical Lady North Wind, who takes him on a series of soaring adventures that change his life.
Shooting will take place from June 20th to August 19th at Sandpoint’s Magnuson Park as well as various
other locations in and around the Seattle area.
Resources for the film are being provided by the University of Washington,
the Center for Digital Arts and Experimental Media (DXARTS), and UW Summer School, with additional support
from the Mayor’s Office of Film and Music and the Washington State Film Office.
