October 1 - Art Research Overview/Introductions
Assignment: Completed Project

October 8 - Presentation and Critique of Completed Projects
October 15 - Presentation and Critique of Completed Projects
Assignment: Establish Sketch Space/Seeds
Reflect upon the "sketch space" concept and establish an appropriate digital space where you will document your art/research process and build your own sketch space. Extract from your project/critique "seeds" for new work. Document these seeds within the context of "starting points" in your sketchspace. Additionally, we will establish a feedback network... Identify two other students whose work you would like to comment on and email us their names.
October 22 - Final Presentation and Critique of Final Projects/Discussion of Sketch Space
Assignment: Cultural Webs
Identify the "cultural webs" that you will connect to in devleopment of your new project concept. Represent, describe, and/or link to these cultural referents in your sketch space.
October 29 - Presentation and Critique of Dimensions of Cultural Webs
Assignment: Dimensions of Artwork
Identify the unique "dimensions" of the artwork that you are developing. As concretely and creatively as possible, utilize your sketchspace to identify and describe these dimensions.
November 5 - Presentation and Critique of Dimensions of Artwork
Assignment: Experimentation Sketches
Begin to manifest your ideas in the form of a series of short "studies" or "sketches". Suggestion: use both the dimensions of your artwork and technical research as starting points.
November 12 - Holiday/No Class
November 19 - Presentation and Critique of Experimentation Sketches
Assignment: Final Sketchspace/Proposal Project - Due Dec. 3
Draw your sketchspace to a temporary conclusion in the form of a creative, multi-dimensional project proposal that synthesizes and refines the research you have conducted up to this point. Your proposal should include:
• A well-written, desriptive, linear text. The proposal should be thorough, representing as many different aspects of your research as possible. Feel free to include images, diagrams, etc. as they support your description. Use your sketchspace research as a generative process for writing this text.
• A cohesive electronic sketchspace that illuminates your text and documents your generative process.
• A written reflection on the sketchspace you created and evaluation of how it supports your generative process. If this process has been challenging for you, please address the following questions: Why are you studying art? What do you want to create? What is stopping you from creating it? What motivates you to make art?
