Objectives
- Consciously analyze and learn from past artwork
- Develop real-time analytical skills
- Learn how to reach to your own conclusions when analyzing art
- Learn how to visualize data to support your analyses
- Learn how to use references to support your analyses
- Make a habit out of consciously experiencing great art of different disciplines on a daily basis
- Connect to great artworks and develop your own artistry – beyond production course assignments
Student Responsibilities
- Attend all seminars
- Assume a pro-active role as an artist/researcher
- Participate in discussions and in-class real-time analysis of great artworks
- Write weekly essays focusing on particular aspects of the artworks viewed in class to demonstrate why they are great works of art
- Complete final analysis project
Grading
- 50% participation in class
- 50% written analyses:
- 25% weekly analyses
- 25% final analysis
