DXARTS 202: FUNDAMENTALS OF DIGITAL AND EXPERIMENTAL ART

Project Proposal (Due April 7th):

Write a 500 word description of the project you plan to work on over the course of this class. Constrain your description to the core conceptual ideas that you wish to communicate, why they are of interest to you, and how these ideas are oriented within history and culture.

Include some basic technical information on how the project will be created such as: what form you expect the work will take and what tools and materials you expect to use. You may also include references to any historical, cultural or inspirational sources you are drawing upon in the form of footnotes, links or selected quotes. These can be in addition to your 500 word description.

Your first few sentences should effectively describe your complete idea without many details of it's execution. Potentially write it like you are explaining the idea to your mom or a peer you meet at a cafe, etc. Then elaborate with more specifics. Don't get bogged down in technical details or lost in lofty and intangible rhetoric. Keep it clear and straightforward while also remaining passionate about what it is you intend to produce. Communicating effectively takes refinement and finesse so expect to write multiple drafts!

Please Note: Be thinking about how you will accomplish this by the end of the quarter because your next assignment (Due April 9th) will be a timeline that contains milestones of the project's development.

Milestones (Due April 9th):

Taking into account feedback from class on your project proposals, outline 4 distinct milestones of your project for which you will be held accountable to throughout the course of the quarter. If for example you expect to use After Effects in your project and you have never used this application, one milestone might be to do some demo tutorials with that particular software.
